Shippensburg University Signage Case Study

Founded in 1871 as the Cumberland Valley State Normal School, Shippensburg University offers 75 undergraduate programs and 17 graduate programs to a 7,500 plus student body. The University campus is located on 200 rolling acres overlooking the town of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.

Through their mutual affiliation with the KAPPA organization (the Pennsylvania chapter of APPA), Shippensburg University and Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program became acquainted and consequently Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program was appointed to evaluate and redesign the University’s campus signage.

With the help of Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program’s team of signage planning and design experts, Shippensburg University adopted a new, contemporary appearance for the institution’s grounds; the University’s ship logo was embodied in the “wave” design of their new signage. In addition, as a PA COSTARS member, Shippensburg University was able to receive a discount on the signage through Howard Industries PRIME Sign Program’s PA Department of General Services Contract.
